benedict nguyễn (they/them) is a writer, dancer, and creative producer based on occupied Lenape and Wappinger lands (South Bronx, NY).
Their criticism has appeared in Into, Los Angeles Review of Books, BOMB Magazine, Vanity Fair, and AAWW’s The Margins, among other outlets. They publish the newsletter “first quarter moon slush” and are working on a few novels.
Recent projects include their curatorial platform "soft bodies in hard places," #bennyboosbookclub, their dance-ish performances #publicartpractice, and The Nerve Studio, which they co-founded with Stephanie George in 2021.
In 2019, Benedict created the multidisciplinary performance platform “soft bodies in hard places,” which has partnered with ISSUE Project Room, Materials for the Arts, Culturebot, the Asian American Writers Workshop, Center for Performance Research, and Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance! (BAAD!).
They've worked as an arts admin unicorn and grant writer for Jennifer Monson, Donna Uchizono, and John Jasperse. They've served on selection committees for Feminist Press' First Novel Prize, the MAP Fund, Abrons Arts Center, Bronx Council on the Arts. , and more. In past eras, Benedict has worked a tutor, grant writer, and cater waiter.
